Our talent agent/manager showcase format is as follows: Each actor will hand their headshot/resume to each of the 5 agents/managers (immediately before the actor performs) for the agents/managers to review; however, agents/managers will NOT take headshots/resumes with them when they leave the showcase (instead, the headshots/resumes will be returned to actors before the end of the showcase). Actors will perform either a cold or prepared scene or monologue** in front of FIVE TV-Film-Theatre AGENTS/managers (from different agencies/companies) AND the whole classroom of actors (as it is very important to learn from watching others). If any of the agents/managers want, they may ask you questions or ask for ONE re-direct of all or some of the performance. Actors will receive a written assessment and/or get verbal critiques/comments. After all of the actors have performed, there will be a 30-minute educational Q&A session with the FIVE AGENT/MANAGER-panel in front of the whole classroom of actors. Next, actors will view a 45-minute video (by a talent manager) to be played immediately after the Q&A…that is full of practical up-to-date information on tips on how to get representation, what agents/managers are looking for, marketing yourself, headshots/resumes, networking, social media, unions, and much more!
Everyone should be performing a scene/monologue for approximately 2 minutes (strict 3-minute rule enforced; ideally, 1.5 minutes). You can be rehearsed…or…you can get a cold-read scene at the showcase. If you will be doing a rehearsed scene and you need a partner/reader, it works out very well if we assign the partner/reader to you AT the showcase (when you sign-in; please bring an extra high-lighted copy for your partner/reader)…and then you will have “at least” 20-30 minutes to rehearse with the partner/reader. You can decide if you want the partner/reader to interact with you…or…to just “read” for you. If you prefer to do a cold read, we assign the SCENE and PARTNER/READER to you AT the showcase (when you sign-in)…and then you will have “at least” 20-30 minutes to rehearse with the partner/reader.
You may select your own scene/monologue from any source (even, write your own). After you register and pay, we will send you a link to a selection of over 100 suitable scenes. SUGGESTION: Agents/managers tell us that they prefer scenes (so that there is interaction with another actor) vs. monologues. Also, they seem to prefer comedy vs. dramatic (however, most actors tend to perform dramatic material at the showcases). For more clarification about the showcase, please call 310-717-2181 (9am-10pm) or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
